DJI, the China-based leaders in drone technology, recently launched the long-awaited DJI Mavic Pro Platinum drone. Drone lovers from all over the world were expecting this model to have significant improvements in its performance and operation.

We asked our experts to take a look at the DJI Mavic Pro and the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum to see if the new drone truly lives up to the hype. The results were surprising.

DJI Mavic Pro Platinum

The all new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum was released with much fanfare in Berlin on the 31st August, 2017. The company released its features and specifications along with a glimpse of the drone itself.

Our experts found that the only addition to the new DJI Mavic Pro Platinum as compared to its earlier cousin is the longer battery life which gives longer flight time and the noise reduction with the innovatively designed propellers.

The Mavic Pro Platinum has a small battery which gives 11% more battery power. This enables the drone to fly for around 3 to 4 additional minutes.

The 8331 propeller design allows the noise to be reduced by over 60% (4 dB). This helps in a quieter and longer drone life.

Our experts noticed that the only differences between the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum and DJI Mavic Pro were the slightly extended flight time (up to 30 minutes) and the noise reduction of 4 dB (60% as compared to other drones).

However, the over $100 you have to pay extra for the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum will not seem worth. As you can get an extra battery and the propellers can also be fitted easily into the DJI Mavic Pro drone model.

The conclusion of our experts was that the DJI Mavic Pro Platinum might not seem worth the extra price it requires.
